Max Nagl wins MXGP of Qatar with 1/1. World Champion Tony Cairoli fourth with 3/4. American Supercross Champion Ryan Villopoto seventh with 9/8. Jeffrey Herlings wins both motos of MX2.

Round 1 of the 2015 FIM World Motocross Championship takes place at the Losail International Circuit, just outside of the city of Doha, Qatar. Leading contenders for the premier MXGP class this year include defending and 8-time World Champion Tony Cairoli from Italy on the RedBull KTM racing team, Gautier Paulin from France on the HRC Honda racing team, Ryan Villopoto from the USA on the Monster Energy Kawasaki racing team, and Clement Desalle on the Rockstar Suzuki team from Belgium. Villopoto is a four-time AMA Supercross Series Champion, racing the World MX Championships for the first time.

Saturday night is the Grand Prix. Much anticipation about the race between the two champions, Tony Cairoli v Ryan Villopoto.

Cairoli wore boots that had lights in them. Villopoto had a bad first moto, starting way back and not moving up quickly. He did pass a number of riders towards the end of the race to finish 9th in moto.
