MXGP World Motocross Championship Great Britain May 23 2015

Round 7 of the FIM World Motocross Championships of MXGP and MX2. Matterley Basin, Great Britain. German Max Nagl leads the MX GP standings coming into this weekend. American Ryan Villopoto will not be racing – still recovering from an injured ‘tail bone’.Saturday Qualifying Races.

Sunday Grand Prix

MXGP: 8 time World Motocross Champion Tony Cairoli of Italy, racing on the Red Bull KTM team, has won the overall victory in today’s MX GP of Great Britain, with scores of 1/3, which give him 45 points. Belgian Rockstar Suzuki rider Clement Desalle takes second overall with 2/2 finishes, giving him 44 points on the day. American Mike Alessi raced today, with moto finishes of 22/17 for 19th overall. Max Nagl leads Clement Desalle by four points in the title chase, with Cairoli 15 points behind Desalle.

MX2: Swiss Yamaha racer Valentin Guillod surprises the motocross world with the overall victory in MX2 over Jeffrey Herlings. Guillod goes 2/1, Herlings 1/2, with Guillod getting the overall based on the better second moto score. Defending MX2 World Champion Jordi Tixier finishes third overall. American Thomas Covington 9th. Jeffrey Herlings has a commanding points lead as the series heads to France for the next race. Dylan Ferrandis DNS.
